Each season of the show The White Lotus ends with the death of a core character. Season 1 concluded with the death of Armond (Murray Bartlett), and Season 2 saw the brutal end of the beloved character Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge). The show’s latest season, set on the island of Koh Samui in Thailand, kept up with the tradition and saw the death of main characters. Consider this a spoiler alert if you have not watched the episode.
We saw the character Rick Hatchett (Walton Goggins) wishing to kill Jim Hollinger (Scott Glenn) throughout the season. Rick blamed Jim for his father’s death. In the last episode of the show, Rick returns to the resort from Thailand. While he appears to be at peace, his tranquility is shattered after he sees Jim, who insults him and his mother. This enrages Rick, and in a fit of fury, he shoots Jim. However, in a twisted turn of fate, Rick later discovers that Jim was actually his biological father.
The Ratliff family, which is facing financial ruin, nearly escapes death as the family’s patriarch, Timothy Ratliff (Jason Isaacs), attempts to poison the entire family. However, his youngest son, Lochlan (Sam Nivola), mistakenly consumes the poison and nearly loses his life.
From sucking up to Tanya McQuoid in Season 1 to using various means to secure finances to open her own spa, Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) has been a persistent part of The White Lotus. She finally uses her knowledge of past events to negotiate a financial settlement and gets her long-awaited wish of opening her own spa.
In January, Variety confirmed that The White Lotus will return with Season 4. While the location of the next season hasn’t been announced, rumours suggest it will be set in Europe. The three previous seasons were set in Hawaii, Italy, and Thailand. Francesca Orsi, HBO’s head of drama, told Deadline, “I can’t really say where we’re going to land, but chances are somewhere in Europe. Some countries on the map that we talked about, but nothing to report on until they actually go location scouting.”
