2024 was a rather interesting year for actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran. His dream project, The Goat Life, directed by Blessy, received critical and commercial acclaim. His follow-up film, Guruvayoor Ambalanadaiyil, had him exploring comedy. But his Hindi cinema sojourn with Bade Miyan Chote Miyan received a cold shoulder. Nevertheless, Prithviraj is starting 2025 with the release of his much-awaited directorial venture, Empuraan, headlined by Mohanlal. Even as the hype around the film is increasing, there are a few speculations about Prithviraj’s non-Malayalam acting assignments that are matching the hype of Empuraan.

First up, the biggest speculation of them all is Prithviraj’s presence in SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film with Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra, tentatively referred to as SSMB 29. There is also the long-speculated Kayoze Irani film, backed by Dharma Productions, which would feature Kajol alongside Prithviraj, and Meghna Gulzar’s next, starring Kareena Kapoor. In a recent interaction with Galatta India, Prithviraj was asked about these projects, especially the Rajamouli film where he is speculated to play the antagonist. However, the ever-stoic Prithviraj neither denied nor confirmed the projects, and said, “With respect to all these projects, there are a lot of things that have to be discussed, before we can confirm anything.”

But he used the opportunity to reiterate his love for Rajamouli, and said, “I am a huge fan of Rajamouli sir. I have always sort of looked up to him, both as a filmmaker and a dreamer. So, with respect to his next film… let’s see.” When asked about shooting for Prashanth Neel’s Salaar 2, Prithviraj revealed that the filmmaker will finish his project with Jr NTR, and then return to the sequel.

Prithviraj is now training all his focus on the release of Empuraan, the second part of the much-anticipated franchise, Lucifer. The film, which is set to hit the screens on March 27, stars Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Fazil, and Baiju Santhosh in pivotal roles. On the acting front, Prithviraj has an interesting lineup of films in Malayalam, including Vilayath Buddha, Nobody, and Santosh Trophy.
