The usually reticent and introverted Prabhas becomes a different beast altogether on the big screen. But one aspect of his repertoire that is under discussed is his script knowledge. While his filmography is testament to his clarity on script selection, his Salaar director Prashanth Neel revealed that Prabhas’ inputs came in handy while scripting the Salaar movies. In an interaction on the occasion of the first year anniversary of the blockbuster film Salaar, Prashanth shared that it was Prabhas’ perspective that brought about an important change in Salaar.

“I can’t share the exact details because it features in the second part. But what I can tell is that he changed the perspective on how we look at the relationship between Deva (Prabhas) and Varadha (Prithviraj Sukumaran),” said Prashanth, adding, “Genuinely, Prabhas is phenomenal with drama. He understood that I came from KGF. So, he didn’t concentrate on the key moments of the film, but he looks for the drama, always.”

Considering how Salaar was started as a standalone film that later became a two-parter, Prashanth Neel revealed that Prabhas had a firm grasp on how he wanted the first part to end. “He was particular about the ending of Salaar, and how it lead to the happenings of part 2. He was so particular about that one moment.”

Talking about how all of his films, despite the action set pieces and the elevation, are based on human emotions, Prashanth revealed that Salaar 2 will be no different. “It is innocence that makes them the best of friends, and it is innocence that makes them enemies too. That is the intriguing part of the sequel. I am very excited for the world to know what is that moment that facilitates this changeover. I think my best bits of writing is when they have to separate and become enemies. It is a very emotional part.”

While Salaar revolved around the friendship of Varadha and Deva, the sequel is set to focus on how these best of friends become the worst of enemies. The film is currently in the pre-production process, and will be backed by Hombale Films. This marks the first of the three-film deal signed by Prabhas and the banner behind projects like KGF and Kantara.
