With the release of director Sujeeth’s They Call Him OG, starring actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan in the lead role, right around the corner, fans of the “Power Star” are all pumped, hopeful that the upcoming action drama will help them overcome the massive disappointment delivered by the colossal flop of Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1. Advance bookings for OG have already begun, and tickets are selling like hotcakes in major centres.
Now, a new report has emerged claiming that a fan of Pawan Kalyan has procured a benefit show ticket for OG for a staggering Rs 1,29,999. According to The Hindu, a person named Amudala Paramesh, belonging to Lakkaram village in Choutuppal mandal, purchased the ticket during an auction held at Srinivasa Theatre in his mandal in the Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district of Telangana on Sunday.
The benefit show is scheduled to be held at 1 am on Thursday, September 25, just hours before the actual morning show begins. Though the original price of the ticket was Rs 800, the auction saw fans bidding progressively higher to secure that ticket, which eventually went to Paramesh, who offered Rs 1,29,999. The amount collected through this auction will be donated to the Jana Sena Party (JSP), led by Pawan Kalyan, who also serves as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
Reportedly, a special 9 pm show will be permitted on September 24, the day prior to the movie’s release, with tickets priced at Rs 800. During the first few days, ticket prices will see a temporary hike, as single-screen theatres have been allowed to charge an additional Rs 100, while multiplexes can charge an extra Rs 150. Ticket rates will return to regular pricing after October 4.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, OG is likely to become Pawan Kalyan’s biggest-ever opener and is expected to mint over Rs 75 crore in the Indian market. With an anticipated overseas collection of over Rs 40 crore, the action drama is very likely to become the actor’s first-ever Rs 100 crore opener.
Also starring Emraan Hashmi in his Telugu film debut, along with Priyanka Arul Mohan, Arjun Das, Sriya Reddy, and Prakash Raj in key roles, the movie features music by Thaman S, cinematography by Ravi K Chandran and Manoj Paramahamsa, editing by Navin Nooli, and production design by AS Prakash. OG will hit the screens on September 25.
