Nandamuri Balakrishna-starrer Daaku Maharaaj has turned out to be a huge blockbuster worldwide. The action entertainer, also starring Bobby Deol, Shraddha Srinath, Pragya Jaiswal and Urvashi Rautela, has earned over Rs 114 crores gross worldwide within 5 days of its release. In fact, the film is even doing better than Ram Charan and Kiara Advani’s Game Changer.

Daaku Maharaaj is also having a good run at the Indian box office. It has already crossed the Rs 65 crore mark in India.

Sithara Entertainments, the production house backing the film, took to their X handle to share the box office numbers. They wrote in the tweet, “AN ALL OUT MASS FESTIVAL at the Box Office. #DaakuMaharaaj hunts down 𝟏𝟏𝟒+ 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞 in 𝟓 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 of unstoppable destruction! #BlockbusterHuntingDaakuMaharaaj is a SANKRANTHI CELEBRATION for the AGES. 𝑮𝑶𝑫 𝑶𝑭 𝑴𝑨𝑺𝑺𝑬𝑺.”

Meanwhile, the makers are also distressed about certain activities around the release of Daaku Maharaaj. Following a complaint by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) India, Tirupati police registered an FIR against a section of Nandamuri Balakrishna fans, who sacrificed a goat during a screening of Daaku Maharaaj at a Tirupati theatre. They even putting the goat’s blood on the film’s poster while cheering.

The police has registered an FIR under sections 325 and 270, read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023; sections 4 & 5, read with 6 & 8 of the Andhra Pradesh Animals and Birds Sacrifices (Prohibition) Act, 1950; and sections 3, 11(1)(a) and 11(1)(l) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.

PETA India Cruelty Response Coordinator Saloni Sakaria said, “Killing an animal and smearing their blood on a poster doesn’t make you a super fan—it makes you a villain and a criminal. True fans celebrate their favourite stars with movie tickets and supportive social media posts, not with acts of violence or cruelty.”

Balakrishna has not yet addressed the issue yet.
