Mirai box office collection day 1 early estimate: After the huge success of Hanu-Man, Telugu actor Teja Sajja is back with the fantasy drama, Mirai. Directed by Karthik Gattamneni, the film opened in theatres today to mixed reviews from critics and audiences. However, it appears to be on a roll at the box office. According to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, Mirai collected around Rs 8.93 crore by 8 pm on day one across all languages.
Mirai recorded an overall 63.52% occupancy in Telugu, with morning shows at 56.20%, afternoon shows at 63.61%, and evening shows rising to 70.75%. The highest turnout was in the Mahbubnagar region, where theatres reported 100% occupancy. In Hindi, the film registered an 8.81% occupancy on day one.
Teja Sajja’s blockbuster Hanu-Man, which released last year, collected around Rs 8.05 crore net in India on its opening day. Given its strong start, Mirai is poised to surpass the day-one box office numbers of his mythological drama.
An excerpt from SCREEN’s review of Mirai read, “Mirai is a smart endeavour in that it knows exactly where it wants to shine, and where it can afford to kick back a little. It’s also a film meant for and originating from the present-day theatre-going culture: it doesn’t necessarily bother going to the depths of its core idea and, in turn, has readied itself to be another franchise that welcomes newer, and potentially bigger, players into its fold. This one, though, puts on a good show despite going through the motions for most parts. Give this a go mainly for the superb action choreography and Gowra Hari’s thumping score.”
Besides Teja Sajja, Mirai also stars Manchu Manoj, Ritika Nayak, Shriya Saran, Jagapathi Babu and Jayaram. The film is produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad, and written jointly by Karthik Gattamneni and Manibabu Karanam.
