As far as the worldwide collection is concerned, the movie grossed Rs 27.5 crore on its first day. The Sekhar Kammula directorial has already surpassed the $1.2 million mark in North America, signalling a solid overseas performance. The numbers are expected to rise significantly on Sunday.
Dhanush’s previous film Raayan earned Rs 27.04 crore in two days, and Kuberaa has already surpassed it.
SCREEN gave Kubera 3.5 stars. An excerpt from the review read, “While the Dhanush and Nagarjuna-starrer is not without its share of missteps, the film still holds its own because of a discerning filmmaker and his sincere ensemble cast.”
Backed by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao, Kuberaa is the story of a beggar named Deva (Dhanush) who crosses paths with a former CBI officer, Deepak Tej (Nagarjuna), in an encounter that changes his life. Along the way, he also meets Sameera (Rashmika), a woman stranded in Mumbai and looking for a way out. Jim plays the corrupt CEO of a rich corporation called Neeraj Mitra.
