Chiranjeevi, one of the most prolific superstars of Indian cinema, has broken many records over his prolific 46-year-old career. But on Monday, one of those achievements got featured in the iconic Guinness World Records. It was a rather personal achievement for the Megastar as he was awarded the Most Prolific Film Star in Indian Cinema for his dance performances in over 537 songs and delivering 24,000 dance moves. The timing of the event was all the more special as it marked the day Chiranjeevi made his onscreen debut in cinema way back in 1978. Apart from the fans and family members of Chiranjeevi, the event was attended by many directors and industry bigwigs, including Aamir Khan.

Chiranjeevi began his acknowledgement speech by thanking Aamir Khan for gracing the event. “Thank you so much, Aamir ji. Your presence made it really memorable for me. I will never forget this gesture from your side,” said the Waltair Veerayya actor, who shared that he never even dreamt of such an honour. “It feels special that I am being honoured for my dancing. This is such a huge honour.”

Exploring the connection between him and dancing, Chiranjeevi said, “From my childhood, I used to entertain people around me with my dance moves. That was my inspiration to become an actor. Even while going to NCC camps in my 7th and 8th class, we used to convert our aluminum plates as percussion instruments, and I used to dance and entertain my friends. Dancing is an integral part of my life.” The megastar went on to talk about how it is this facet of his talent that ensured his ascension to stardom. “I remember my co-artists like Savitri garu, Roja Ramani, Narasimha Raju seeing me dance when I was just starting out. It was a particularly rainy evening, and it was very slippery. I just danced without any inhibition. And even when I slipped, I turned it into a Naagini dance. After a co-director informed the director about my dancing skills, they added a dance and a duet song to my character,” said a beaming Chiranjeevi, who said this was the first of many such instances where his dance skills benefitted his acting career.

Chiranjeevi also spoke about how many filmmakers opted for him because he added an edge to the film with his performance in the songs as well. “Audience wanted songs in films, and I gradually became commercially viable for the makers. I must thank all the filmmakers, composers, and choreographers for giving their extra effort in my songs. Even in films that had no situation for songs, they created them. Yes, sometimes, it used to disturb the narrative, but songs had a special audience, and we had to cater to them,” said the Megastar, succinctly adding that a childhood hobby has given him everything including a Guinness Record.

Aamir, who fondly referred to Chiranjeevi as an elder brother, said, “When he invited me for the event, I told him that he should order me and not ask me to attend the event.” Giving his insights into what makes Chiranjeevi a prolific dancer, Aamir said, “If you watch any of his songs, his heart is completely in it. He enjoys every move, and because of that, we can’t take our eyes off him. His joy is infectious, and we all feel it as we watch him.”

Aamir celebrated how Chiranjeevi enjoys every moment when he is dancing. “If you see any of his songs, his own heart is into it. He is enjoying himself. Our eyes just don’t move from him because he is having such a great time. We are also infected with that. I’m happy to be here and your achievements are many. You will go on in this journey creating many achievements and many firsts. We will always be there to be entertained by you and applaud you.”
