Amidst the allegations made by her stepdaughter Esha Verma, Rupali Ganguly has chosen to focus on her work and spread positivity. The Anupamaa star was seen filming for a fun episode of her show, seemingly unaffected by the controversy surrounding her. Esha has said that Rupali has “physically, mentally abused my mother and me.”
Behind-the-scene videos from the sets have surfaced online, showcasing Rupali’s joyful demeanor as she participates in lively scenes. In one video reposted on her Instagram Stories, Rupali is seen performing Garba, captioning it “Love, laughter and positivity always.” Another video features her hula hooping with her co-star, accompanied by the caption “Blessed to be surrounded by love and smiles.”

The controversy stems from Esha Verma’s claims that Rupali “physically, mentally, verbally, and emotionally abused” her and her mother, Sapna when she was having an affair with Ashwin K Verma. Esha also accused her father, Ashwin, of abusive behavior and alleged that Rupali played a significant role in the family’s troubled past. Rupali is married to Ashwin, who has two daughters from his previous marriage to Sapna. Rupali and Ashwin are parents to a boy, Rudransh.
Esha has hinted at further revelations, stating, “There’s a darker side to this story,” and plans to release a video detailing her experiences. However, Rupali, who was recently papped in the city, with her husband and son, has chosen not to address the allegations publicly, instead focusing on her work and spreading positivity through her social media posts.
Rupali’s decision to resume work amidst the controversy has sparked attention, with fans and followers closely observing her response to the allegations. In her recent social media post, Esha had said that the Anupamaa star built happiness on “heartbreak of others”. In a long post, she had written, ““To everyone who’s seen the recent news and reached out – thank you for taking the time to understand my perspective. Watching something so personal go viral has been surreal and overwhelming. This isn’t just a headline; it’s my life, my childhood, and the pain I endured then and still feel today.”
“I’m grateful to those who have approached this with kindness, consideration, and respect. It’s a lot to process, and the comments and attention are heavy. But I’m choosing to stand by my experiences, because some truths need to be heard. Although I first spoke out about this four years ago, I’ve grown, matured, and healed a lot since then. Standing up and sharing my truth now reflects the strength I’ve found in that journey, and I believe it shouldn’t be shut down,” she added.
Esha also shared that she is “risking a lot by speaking up” as she added, “My father and his wife may deny these claims, but I believe their response is rooted in fear of the truth finally surfacing. I love my father deeply and idolized him as any young daughter would. But he chose to exclude me from his life, and that disconnection has been incredibly painful.Watching her rise in the entertainment world with a public image so far from reality has only added to the hurt, especially as she plays a character who champions the very values she disregarded in real life. I know I’m risking a lot by speaking up, but if my voice is finally heard, that’s enough.”
