Gurucharan Singh says his mother couldn’t recognise him when he returned, says family ‘got emotional, cried’

Gurucharan Singh said that his family was overwhelmed when he came back after disappearing for a month.

Gurucharan Singh, of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah fame, was reported missing a few months ago but now, the actor is back and has revealed that he went away voluntarily as he was trying to be on a spiritual path. In a new interview, Gurucharan revealed that his destination was Himalayas but he couldn’t there. He also shared that when he came back home, his mother could not recognise him.

Talking to Telly Talk India, Gurucharan said that he was in India all this while and shared that he made a split second decision to leave. “The things that were going on in my life… I thought I should be on a spiritual path in life. I wanted to reach the Himalayas but I couldn’t get there. God stopped me on the way and later I felt like he was telling me that go back,” he shared.

Gurucharan revealed that he had once tried to leave previously as well because “I felt like life is all about being connected with God.” The actor was then asked about the day he came back home and he shared that this was an emotional moment for his family. “I came back home at around 2 am. I rang the bell and mother came out. She couldn’t even recognise me at first. It was dark out and it was quite late. She then asked my father to come out and see and he said ‘its’ our son’,” he said.

Gurucharan said that the three of them just sat together for a while and cried a lot. “For a while, the three of us just cried. They were so happy that I was back. They were not upset with me for anything,” he said.

Gurucharan Singh went missing in April 2024. After almost a month, the actor returned home in May. Delhi Police was investigating his disappearance. Gurucharan recently returned to Mumbai.
