Actress Dipika Kakar Ibrahim, who had been away from television for several years, made a full-fledged comeback this year with Celebrity MasterChef. However, within a month, she had to quit the show after an old muscle injury in her left shoulder worsened. While Dipika’s exit from the show will air in the coming week, she addressed her decision in her latest YouTube vlog.
In the video, Dipika shared, “Unfortunately, my journey on Celebrity MasterChef has ended. Last week there was an episode celebrating festivals, but I wasn’t seen on it. It was during the shooting of this episode that my shoulder pain aggravated. It pained so much that the production team had to rush me to the nearby hospital. Since it was the left shoulder everyone was scared, however, the ECG was normal.”
The actor added, “Later on, we figured that I have lymph nodes near my left shoulder. I was put on medication and I returned to the show. The medicine course was over and after 4-5 days I could feel the pain again. Despite the pain, I went to shoot since it was a commitment, but by the end of the day, my condition worsened. I still completed my dish and visited the doctor again where we learned that there had been some kind of an injury in my left arm’s muscle. There could be many reasons for an injury. It could be age-related, but it is very difficult to determine if it happened some years ago. This diagnosis has no specific treatment. I wear a sling occasionally. When the pain is too much, the arm has to be immobilized. I have to be very cautious about straining my left shoulder.”

Talking about the decision to quit Celebrity MasterChef, Dipika Kakar Ibrahim said, “I was in a very difficult position to make this decision. The wedding celebration episode was the last one where I cooked, but after that episode, I couldn’t continue. It’s a reality show, a competition, and the pain kept recurring, so it wasn’t fair to continue. I thank the entire Endemol production team as they helped me through the pain and supported me a lot. Unfortunately, I had to take this decision. 12th February was my last day of shoot when Hina Khan and Rocky had come to the set.”
On a parting note, Dipika Kakar said that Celebrity MasterChef was very special to her. “It’s one of the most special shows of my career because I made my comeback and it was something I love to do the most. It has taught me a lot. I will miss the show, but sometimes things are not in your hands. It’s an injury, and maybe I was destined to be on the show till here. Now I want to correct this and bounce back soon with a new daily soap.”
