Dipika Kakar breaks down as father-in-law calls her ‘jaan’ of Ibrahim family; celebrates birthday after cancer surgery

In the latest vlog posted on her YouTube channel, actor Dipika Kakar received numerous gifts leading up to her birthday, one of which was an heartfelt letter penned by her father-in-law.

It looks like things are finally going back to normal in the Kakar-Ibrahim household, as actor Dipika Kakar continues her recovery after undergoing treatment for stage 2 liver cancer. She released another vlog on her YouTube channel, Dipika Ki Duniya, in which her family counted down the days to her birthday, surprising her with gifts every day. Among all the meaningful and well thought-out gifts, one stood tall as the best one, which made the actor break down in front of the camera.

The vlog opens up with Dipika unboxing a gift bag with a post-it note on it, which read “3 days to go.” The bag holds a brand new Armani Exchange t-shirt, which Dipika really likes and jokes about, saying, “Ab toh fit bhi ajayegi” (Now it will fit). The bag has a scented candle in it as well, which again is appreciated by the actor. The next day, Dipika opens up another present given by her father-in-law, and it’s a traditional Indian dress. He tells her to call him on WhatsApp to see the next present, and upon calling, Dipika notices that he has changed his profile picture and put up a picture of them together. She revels with joy and thanks him for the gesture.

Aside from all the gifts, Dipika gives her audience a glimpse into her new eating habits and says, “I know that the coffee mug looks big, but I have filled it less than half. I don’t drink a lot of coffee these days, but the mug is ingrained in my habits. I also eat khakhras for my evening snack, and the house is always equipped with several different kinds.” After this the actor opens her presents for the day, and first she opens a small white box which has a ‘tree of life’ charm in it for her watch. Along with it there is a letter written by her father-in-law, and Dipika is hardly able to contain her emotions reading it.

In the letter, her father-in-law tells her to look at the tree of life whenever she feels low or sad and tells her, “Tum keval hamarai family ki jaan hi nahi, par shaan bhi ho. Tum Ibrahim parivar ki jadh ho.” (You aren’t just the life of the family; you are its pride as well. You are the root of the Ibrahim household.” We later see some more heartfelt moments of Dipika with her son and husband, as she wears the aforementioned suit on her birthday and cuts the cake as the whole family celebrates. The Sasural Simar Ka actor has gone through a lot in recent times, and the vlog shows how her family is standing right beside her on this journey to recovery.
