CID is returning on TV after a six-year-long hiatus and the makers plan to release the new season by December 2024.

The iconic crime drama CID is returning to the small screen after six years. The show, which began in 1998, aired its last episode in 2018. Now as the squad returns after six years, fans cannot contain their excitement. However, the show’s first teaser has posed a big question to viewers.

In the teaser, Abhijeet is killing Daya even as ACP Pradyuman watches helplessly. After watching the teaser, fans are wondering why Abhijeet killed his good friend Daya after all.

While the three principal characters played by Aditya Srivastava, Shivaji Satam, and Dayanand Shetty return with the show, fans also dearly miss Freddy (Dinesh Phadnis), who passed away last year. In the comments section of the CID teaser, a few fans wrote that their childhood is back. While one fan said, “Move over Katappa ne Baahubali ko kyun maara, now its time to know Abhijeet ne Daya ko kyun maara?” Another fan commented, “Thank You sony…Finally, my awaited series is back…”

Talking about the new season, Shivaji Satam who will be seen as ACP Pradyuman, said in a statement, “In this edition of the show, the Daya-Abhijeet bond, once unbreakable, has snapped and the two are standing opposite each other. The very foundation of CID is shaken, and ACP Pradyuman’s world will be turned upside down. It feels surreal to return as ACP Pradyuman after six years, a character that has received so much love and we promise a thrilling ride filled with suspense and heart-stopping drama!”

Earlier in an interview with Times Of India, Aditya Srivastava also revealed that talks to bring the show back have been on since long. However, nothing materialized until recently. The actor also said that he was quite pumped for the show, and added, “This time around the channel wanted it back on TV as it has been one of the most watched and loved shows. Things worked out and Shivaji Satam, Dayanand Shetty, and I came on board. We are emotionally connected with this show.”

The cast has only shot for the promo as of now. The show’s shooting is yet to begin. However, the makers are planning to bring back CID on TV by December 2024.
