Popular TV actor Anita Hassanandani made her silver screen debut with Subhash Ghai’s Taal, where she played Aishwarya Rai’s best friend. Recently, on the latest episode of SCREEN’s Dear Me, Anita spoke about working so closely with Aishwarya on Taal. She even shared how Shahid Kapoor was also a part of the project.
Talking about Taal, Anita said, “My first little role was in Taal, and I was nervous. It was a small role and I wondered how it would happen, but Subhash Ghaiji motivated me. He said, ‘You are very pretty, you will do good, I will make you act.’ Then I went on the set and little by little I followed all the instructions that were given. That’s how my journey started.”
On working with Aishwarya Rai in Taal, Anita Hassanandani said, “I was completely awestruck. She was gorgeous to another level. In Taal, she is hardly wearing any makeup. I wondered how I landed there, where are my dreams going? I was so mesmerized by everything happening around me. There was such a big director guiding me. Even though the role was small, over there I felt so special to get that chance out of nowhere. I wanted to make the most of it, so I gave it my best.”
However, Anita Hassanandani revealed that she was too shy to interact with Aishwarya Rai between shots or even after packing up. “Taal was quite a movie. Shahid (Kapoor) was in the background; so many people made it through that film. My role was for a few minutes, but we had shot for 8 to 10 days. It was quite an experience. My role was too small, and I was also very shy. If I were who I am today, I would have had a conversation, but back then, I was in my shell. I didn’t know anything, and I felt just too small, so I didn’t interact much, but just being around her was special.”
On the work front, Anita Hassanandani was last seen on the Colors TV show Suman Indori. She will next be seen in Zee TV’s reality show Choriyaan Chali Gaon.
