Amid the ongoing rift between Dhanush and Nayanthara, her husband, director Vignesh Shivan, seemingly responded to the Raanjhanaa actor by sharing unseen footage from Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale on Instagram. In the caption, Vignesh explained that the clip couldn’t be included in the documentary ‘due to copyright issues.’ In her open letter, Nayanthara had accused Dhanush of denying them permission to use clips from their film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan and allegedly demanding Rs 10 crore for including a three-second BTS clip. The video Vignesh shared features moments of Nayanthara and him spending quality time with their twins, Uyir and Ulag, set to the track “Kannaana Kanne” from the same film.
Interestingly, the lyrics for “Kannaana Kanne” were penned by Vignesh himself. In the post, Vignesh mentioned how several lines and footage failed to make it to the documentary due to copyright restrictions. Though he didn’t explicitly name Dhanush, it was evident that he was referencing the ongoing rift with the Raanjhanaa actor. Vignesh and Nayanthara met on the set of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan and began dating during its production, making the film a significant part of their love story. While Vignesh directed the film, it was bankrolled by Dhanush.
“There are so many of my lines that failed to be a part of the documentary for reasons the world knows ! Yes it’s painful that it’s not on Netflix ! But it can always reach people with all the other options the world has given to us ! ❤️❤️❤️,” Vignesh wrote in the caption. “Here’s one version that you actually haven’t seen my uyir. This is a voice over version that couldn’t make it due to copyright issues ❤️ but here it is for you ! Love you my uyir ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” he added.
In the post, Vignesh also expressed hope that people would eventually understand his and Nayanthara’s perspective in their argument with Dhanush. He wrote, “And may be some day , some day , some good day…… People will really understand where we are coming from !!! I hope ! That day comes soon!”
Vignesh’s post came shortly after Nayanthara shared an open letter on Instagram accusing Dhanush of demanding Rs 10 crore for the three seconds of BTS footage, which had been recorded on their personal devices during the filming of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. Nayanthara also revealed that Dhanush’s team had given them 24 hours to remove the clip from the documentary, threatening legal action if they failed to comply.
