Coolie worldwide box office collection day 14: Despite slowing in its second week, Rajinikanth’s film Coolie has managed to cross Rs 500 crore at the global box office, becoming the third Indian film after Chhaava and Saiyaara to reach the coveted benchmark this year. According to Sacnilk, the film minted Rs 5.56 crore on Wednesday, taking its domestic market total to Rs 269.86 crore.
Coolie had raked in Rs 229.65 crore in India during the first week of its release. However, after its second weekend, the film saw a sharp 71 percent decrease in its collection as it earned just Rs 3.25 crore on Monday. Soon after, the Ganesh Chaturthi festival came to the film’s rescue, and it witnessed an over 50 percent increase in its collection on Wednesday as it minted Rs 5.56 crore.
Many reports state that Coolie has crossed the Rs 500 crore mark at the worldwide box office. Trade analyst Sumit Kadel shared the news and wrote, “#Coolie has surpassed the Rs 500 Cr benchmark at the worldwide box office. With this achievement, Superstar #Rajinikanth emerges as the only Tamil actor to have three films grossing over Rs 500 Cr globally. The upcoming #Jailer2 is well-positioned to become his fourth entrant into the Rs 500 Cr worldwide club.”
Coolie broke several opening-day and weekend records in the US, the UK, and Australia, which helped it sustain the lull period and eventually reach the Rs 500 crore mark. According to a report in Hindustan Times, Coolie has earned just under $21 million overseas Rs 182 crore), taking its worldwide gross to Rs 501 crore.
Rajinikanth’s last film Vettaiyan managed to collect Rs 253.6 crore in total worldwide earnings. However, Jailer was Rajinikanth’s last massive hit. His 2023 film’s worldwide collection stood at Rs 604.5 crore. Whether Coolie will be able to cross that benchmark, only time will tell.
Hrithik Roshan’s War 2 released in theatres along with Coolie. However, Rajinikanth’s film has always been ahead of Hrithik-starrer. On Wednesday, War 2 minted Rs 2.50 crore and its total domestic collection reached to Rs 229.75 crore, compared to Coolie’s Rs 269.86 crore.
