Aditya Roy Kapur to play a painter in Fitoor

The film took off on November 16

Director Abhishek Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur on the sets of Fitoor

Director Abhishek Kapoor was to initially start the first schedule for his film Fitoor in Kashmir, but had to change the location to Mumbai because of the floods in the valley. But since things fell into place, he could stick to the original plans and he commenced the shooting on November 16 in Kashmir. The unit is presently shooting in Dal Lake and Pahalgam, as the beautiful locales of Kashmir are intertwined with the plot of Fitoor, a story of love lost and realised over the course of two generations. The schedule took off with Aditya Roy Kapur who will soon be joined by co-stars Rekha and Katrina Kaif.
The film, a modernised adaptation of Charles Dickens novel, Great Expectations, will like the 1998 Alfonso Cuaron directed film adaptation of the book, have the protagonist Kapur playing a painter. Interestingly, in the novel, the protagonist Pip begins his apprenticeship as a blacksmith and is obsessed with becoming a ‘gentleman’.
To get under the skin of his character, Kapur imbibed the nuances of a painter; like how to hold a brush and palette, make strokes on canvas etc. Kaif plays his muse in the film.
Produced by UTV Motion Pictures, Fitoor is slated to release next year.

Aditi Rao Hydari to play young Rekha in Fitoor

After Ajay Devgn, who has a cameo in Fitoor, it is Aditi Rao Hydari who joins the impressive cast. She will reprise the role of young Rekha who plays a mercurial Begum in the film.
Hydari is on a roll, as she has Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Wazir (tentative title), Subhash Kapoor’s Guddu Rangeela, The Legend Of Michael Mishra and Sudhir Mishra’s Aur Devdas on her plate.
