American rapper Kid Cudi, real name Scott Mescudi, who briefly dated Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’s ex Cassie Ventura, took the stand in Manhattan court to testify against the Bad Boy Records producer. It’s day 9 of Diddy’s trial on accusations of sex trafficking, racketeering, and around 100 sexual assault cases. From Combs messing with his house to setting his Porsche on fire and threatening to release a sexually explicit video, Cudi made startling revelations in the aftermath of Cassandra’s testimony, where she detailed the alleged freak-off and the CNN beating video. So far, multiple former Combs employees, including the sex escorts he used to bring, a federal agent, and a psychologist, have taken the stand in front of jurors. Meanwhile, Combs and his legal team are maintaining their ‘not guilty’ stance while also accusing Cassie of living a double life.

Cudi was dating R&B singer Cassie

Back in 2011, Cudi revealed dating Cassie, who previously was in a decade-long relationship with Combs. At the time, the singer likely didn’t break up with Combs, as on the court filing, their alleged relationship timeline dates from 2007 to somewhere till 2018. But according to Cudi, the duo faced some problems in their relationship and “had some problems and they weren’t dating anymore.” Detailing the first incident, the rapper said he once took his then-girlfriend to a West Hollywood hotel when their romance was still new, to keep her away from the music mogul—something that left the latter ‘seething’ after finding out about them. He shared receiving a phone call from Diddy’s assistant, Capricorn Clark, according to whom Diddy and a man broke into his house, adding she was forced to follow them. At the time, Cudi rushed back to his house, and while driving, called Diddy to confront him.

The rapper, in return, said he just wanted to talk. However, that wasn’t the case, as Cudi found his house totally messed up upon reaching, his dogs locked inside bathrooms, and Christmas gifts he had wrapped for his family had been opened. Cudi said he wanted to fight Combs at the time. “I just thought, like, I don’t know who he has with him, what his intentions are.”

My car was set on fire

A few weeks after the incident, the Day N Nite singer revealed he got a call from his dog-sitter while he was hanging out with one of his friends. She told him his car was set on fire in his driveway. The car, a Porsche 911 convertible with red leather seats, was discovered in a damaged state after the rapper returned to the scene. Photos shown in court revealed the car with burn marks, a hole slashed through the roof, and a Molotov cocktail on the passenger seat. While it was not clear who did that, Cudi told the court he had no doubt who was behind it. “I knew he had something to do with it,” he said in court, prompting Diddy’s legal team to object, but the court rejected them. It was earlier revealed that Cassie once told Cudi that Diddy threatened to blow up his car after finding out about them and even threatened to release the sexually explicit video of the duo.

The rapper said, “After the fire, I said this is getting out of hand. I need to talk to him.” He described Combs looking like a “Marvel supervillain,” who coldly told him that he should know Ventura was his girl before dating her. At the end of their conversation, Cudi asked him, “What are we going to do about my car?” and described Diddy’s reaction as a “very cold stare,” and said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Why Cudi and Cassie broke up

The rapper said that Cassie spent her 2011 Christmas at his house in Connecticut, and that was probably the last time they were together. After that, they slowly lost touch and drifted apart. On the other hand, Combs kept texting him because he felt he was left in the dark. Cassie earlier claimed she used to contact Cudi with a ‘burner’ phone. The rapper said he fell in love with her, and when she decided to go back to Combs, it hurt him badly. A few years later, Cudi revealed that his path crossed with Combs, and the rapper apologised for everything he’d done. During the whole conversation, court sketches showed that Combs tried making eye contact with Cudi multiple times, but the latter didn’t see him once, not even when he was leaving the stand, and even denied speaking to the reporters.

Combs’ lawyer accuses Cassie of living a double life

In her previous testimony, Cassandra, who claimed to be involved in Diddy’s freakoff and got in a sexual relationship with multiple sexual escorts that the rapper used to bring for her, said that she was so in love with him and didn’t want to upset him. The singer in 2018 finally split from him and has since got married to a fitness instructor. She is now going to be a mother for the third time. On the other hand, Combs’ lawyer, while cross-examining Cudi, blamed Cassie, making her the main villain. “Ms. Ventura was living two different lives, is that true?” Brian Steel asked Cudi, suggesting that she played both of them, and Cudi replied with “yes.” The rapper revealed that Cassie talked about the physical abuse by Diddy, but never went into detail.

More witness

Another witness, George Kaplan, who used to work as Diddy’s personal assistant, supported Cassie. He told the jury that in 2015, he saw Diddy violently attack Cassie on a private jet. Fearing that he might lose his job, Kalpan remained silent. But after that incident, and another one where he saw Cassie with a bruised eye, he chose to quit.

A makeup artist, Mylah Morales, who’s worked with Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez, also testified. According to her, she once recognised Cassie during Grammy weekend in 2010. Morales said she heard shouting behind a closed hotel room door. When Diddy stormed out, she went in and saw Cassie with a “swollen eye, a busted lip, and knots on her head.” A hotel manager at the L’Ermitage Beverly Hills said, Combs to to check in under fake names. He mentioned those same names that Cassie had earlier told the court, claiming he used to book rooms for those so-called freak-offs.
