Kim Seok-jin, the eldest member of boy band BTS, has commenced his countdown to his discharge from South Korean military service. Jin was also the first BTS member to enlist in the military. Ahead of the pop singer’s discharge, @bts_bighit shared a video message from him, igniting excitement among fans.
In the clip, Jin held two small number 7 lit candles, blowing them out with a smile and flashing a thumbs-up sign. The caption, translated by @Jiniya1204, read, “Message from #Jin: Mar 2024.” As translated by X user @Jiniya1204, the message further read, “D-77!! Time flies. Let’s go, let’s go! # Jin of March # ARMY_lover # MissYouSeokjinnie # Army, just wait for 77days #JIN.”
Fans eagerly awaited Jin’s return, expressing their anticipation in the comments section. One fan wrote, “He is waiting and counting down just like us. I miss him more 😭😭.” Another fan wrote, “Yeah…. we can’t dare measure the depth of his love 😭😭😭.” Predicting Jin’s future plans, a fan wrote, “He waited just so he could do the double 7 days before he is back with us 😭😭😭 Jin always has a plan 🤍.”
Jin commenced his military service in December 2022, marking the milestone with a post on his Weverse handle captioned “D-100.” As reported by My K-Pop Shows, Jin is scheduled to complete his service on June 12, 2024. He underwent five weeks of training at a boot camp near the North Korean border before being assigned to an army unit.
While all seven members of BTS are currently doing their mandatory military service, fans eagerly await their reunion, as Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, RM, V, and Jungkook are expected to come together again in 2025.
