The oldest member of K Pop sensation, BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan), Jin has completed his military service in South Korea. Jin became the first members of the boys’ band to begin his 18 months of military services in December 2022. On Wednesday, he officially completed his duty and received a warm welcome by his fellow bandmates — J-hope, RM, V, Jungkook and Jimin.
The singer’s discharge ceremony was an emotional one. In videos surfacing from the discharge ceremony, Jin was seen wiping his tears as he prepared to leave the military camp. To top it off, his fellow BTS members were present to welcome him back.
More videos of Jin exiting the camp gate have emerged on social media. Jin, in one of the videos, is seen smiling as RM played BTS’s 2020 mega-hit Dynamite on a saxophone. He was then seen hugging the other band members who greeted him with love and a bouquet of flowers. Pictures of the BTS reunion was shared on their official X handle. This is their first picture together in 18 months. Watch:
Jin’s return a day before the band’s 11th anniversary has their fans excited. However, the fans of the boys’ band will have to wait to seem them perform together until all other other members of the band also complete their mandatory military service.
Jin enlisted for the mandatory military service in December 2022 as all able-bodied South Korean men are required to spend between 18 and 21 months in the military by the time they are 28 – a duty intended to maintain the country’s ability to respond to a possible attack by North Korea. Other members of the band will soon complete their term, however, their first gig post the military stint will take place only in 2025.
