Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra, which opened to positive reviews, has been on a record-breaking spree, earning over Rs 200 crore worldwide. Alongside Kalyani Priyadarshan, choreographer-actor Sandy has been receiving rave reviews for his intense, psychotic portrayal of a misogynistic cop in the film. In a recent interview, Sandy spoke about Lokah 2, Mammootty’s role in the franchise, and Dulquer Salmaan’s involvement as a producer.
Dulquer invested Rs 30 crore in a female-oriented experiment like Lokah Chapter 1. Speaking highly of the actor-producer whose gamble paid off, Sandy told Behindwoods, “Dulquer Salman sir was like a teacher, who was guiding all of us students (the cast and crew) on the sets and made our jobs easier. He created a team and made us work diligently for the film.”
He added, “Dulquer sir is very happy with how we have all managed to prove his conviction in all of us true by this success. Everybody has contributed much more than what he had expected.”
Dulquer Salmaan, who produced Lokah under Wayfarer Films, also makes a cameo appearance in the film.
When asked about the chances of Mammootty being a part of the second movie in the Lokah franchise, Sandy seemed less confident. “I don’t know about the next part. But everyone knows by now that it was indeed Mammootty sir’s voice only (in Lokah Chapter 1 – Chandra). Lokah 2 is definitely going to happen, but we haven’t started work on that till now.” Mammootty voiced the character of Muthoon in Lokah Chapter 1.
Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra, directed by Dominic Arun, is set to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in the domestic market and has already grossed around Rs 210 crore worldwide.
