Malayalam megastar Mammootty and Jnanpith Award-winning author and screenwriter-director MT Vasudevan Nair have shared a close bond for decades. In fact, MT has played a significant role in shaping Mammootty’s acting career, leading to the thespian receiving his first Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor and the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performances in movies written by MT — Adiyozhukkukal (1984) and Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha (1989), respectively. The actor has often credited MT for many of his fortunes and has spoken highly of their relationship. Now, a video has surfaced online showcasing the depth of their bond.
A grand event was organised in Kochi on Monday for the trailer launch of Manorathangal, a nine-part anthology series based on MT’s iconic stories. The series features a diverse cast, including superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty, and the segments are directed by veterans such as Priyadarshan, Shyamaprasad, Santosh Sivan, Jayaraj and Mahesh Narayanan.

The video of this touching moment quickly went viral, endearing netizens who expressed their admiration for the two legends and their relationship.
Interestingly, Mammootty’s first credited role was in a film written by MT Vasudevan Nair, director Azad’s Vilkkanundu Swapnangal (1980).
