Lokah Chapter 1 box office collection day 24: Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra recently became the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time, but its box office journey is far from over. The Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer witnessed strong growth on Saturday. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the superhero drama jumped 85.29% on August 20 to collect Rs 3.15 crore. This took the film’s total India collection to Rs 133.65 crore.
On its fourth Saturday, Lokah: Chapter 1 recorded an overall Malayalam occupancy of 47.88%. The film saw 27.54% in morning shows, 42.57% in the afternoon, 51.91% in the evening, and 69.50% at night.
Besides being the highest-earning Malayalam film, Lokah is also now the highest-earning female-centric film in Indian cinema.
Talking about the success of Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra, producer Dulquer Salmaan told The Hollywood Reporter, “This is our seventh production, and we’ve always played it safe. But nothing has been like Lokah. Even as an actor, none of my films have exploded like this. It’s crossed demographics and become part of pop culture.”
He added, “I was seeing responses from everywhere. It’s proof that audiences today are open to different languages and fresh storytelling. People watched it on day one, reviewed it, made reels – it was surreal.”
Lokah: Chapter 1 is directed by Dominic Arun. It also stars Naslen K. Gafoor, Sandy Master, Arun Kurian, and Vijayaraghavan in key roles. Notably, Dulquer Salmaan appears in a special role as Odiyan, while Tovino Thomas makes a guest appearance as Chathan.
Dominic has confirmed that the second installment in the franchise will focus on Tovino’s character, with Dulquer taking center stage in the third chapter.
