Malayalam film 2018 – Everyone Is A Hero was released in theatres on Friday. The movie, which minted Rs 1.85 crore on the opening day, recorded a jump on the second day. According to trade analysts and industry trackers, 2018 collected Rs 3.22 crore on Saturday, taking the two-day total collection to Rs 5.07 crore.
The movie opened to positive reviews and the good word of mouth has resulted in more screens being added in theatres in Kerala and Bengaluru.
The Jude Anthany Joseph directorial is based on the 2018 Kerala floods. The calamity resulted in the death of 483 individuals, and thousands of homes were damaged.
2018 stars Tovino Thomas, Indrans, Kunchacko Boban, Aparna Balamurali, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Asif Ali, Lal, Narain, Tanvi Ram, Sshivada, Kalaiyarasan, Aju Varghese, Siddique, Joy Mathew and Sudheesh. Tovino recently took to his social media handles and thanked the audience for the response to the movie.
Indianexpress.com’s Anandu gave the film four stars. A part of the review read, “2018 – Everyone Is A Hero, as the title suggests, is a homage to the hundreds of thousands of people who banded together in the face of extreme rainfall and helped one another during a time of great darkness, rather than being the documentation of actual events that unfolded in the weeks that led up to mid-August that year.”
