Mission Impossible Final Reckoning trailer: And just like that, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is set to make a comeback, hoping to complete the high-octane ride he embarked on 29 years ago. Although the end could be near, it still seems distant and this feeling is not unfounded. “Smart people on every side are panicking,” we hear Hunt say. The trailer for the biggest action film of the year is here and if the speculations prove true, this might mark the beginning of the end of a three-decade era.
However, the challenges he faces this time are far bigger and worse than anything he’s tackled before. Not only has his team been betrayed, but all his secrets have been compromised too, the trailer reveals. Everything he was and everything he did has led to this moment and there’s no turning back for Ethan Hunt. “Our lives are the sum of our choices,” we hear, underscoring that the battle this time will be the biggest yet.
Meanwhile, the trailer for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning ends on a seemingly emotional note, as if the franchise is bidding goodbye to its heart and soul, Tom Cruise. “This was your calling; your destiny,” we hear as a jubilant Ethan Hunt appears. “I need you to trust me; one last time,” he says as he buckles up to finish off Entity, a powerful rogue AI.
The promo concludes by revealing that the movie will hit theatres worldwide on May 23, including in IMAX. This chapter of the franchise promises not only an edge-of-the-seat experience but also a deeply emotional journey that brings decades of legacy full circle, a statement issued by the makers says.
A direct sequel to Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023), the movie also features Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Shea Wigham, Greg Tarzan Davis and Pom Klementieff in key roles. It’s worth noting that Tom Cruise first took on the role of Ethan Hunt in 1996’s Mission: Impossible, directed by legendary filmmaker Brian De Palma and based on the 1966 TV series created by Bruce Geller.
