Actors Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt were introduced to each other by their managers in 1994, and the couple got married at the turn of the century. Pitt became the ‘it’ guy of Hollywood, while Aniston started coming into her own as a bonafide television star with Friends, but they weren’t destined to ride off into the sunset together, and they split in 2005. In a recent interview, Aniston pulled back the curtains a bit and talked about her divorce and how she coped with being under the spotlight during that difficult time.

While talking to Vanity Fair, Jennifer Aniston recalled a feature interview she had given to the same organisation just after her divorce. She called it a “jarring experience” and pointed out that it was a very vulnerable time for her. She said, “I haven’t looked at that article in forever. I just remember the experience of doing it, which was kind of jarring. It was also such a vulnerable time. But yeah, that was one for the memoirs.”

Back in 2006, while Jennifer Aniston was dealing with her divorce, she was offered the role of Brooke Meyers in the movie The Break-Up. The actor admitted that the producers weren’t very confident while pitching the movie to her because of all that was happening in her personal life.

She said, “It was kind of cathartic to go right from that. So when they came to me, they were a little nervous about making the offer because they thought, ‘Oh, is that insensitive? Is it inappropriate?’ But I actually thought, ‘What a great opportunity.’ I knew it would actually kind of benefit me emotionally, just as a human being, and also serve the script and the character pretty well.”

The Friends also star admitted that the media coverage of her divorce really got to her and said that she didn’t have the strength to not let it all affect her. “It was such juicy reading for people. If they didn’t have their soap operas, they had their tabloids. It’s a shame that it had to happen, but it happened. And boy did I take it personally. We’re human beings, even though some people don’t want to believe we are. They think, ‘You signed up for it, so you take it.’ But we really didn’t sign up for that,” said the actor.

Jennifer Aniston will next be seen in season 4 of The Morning Show, which will be available for streaming on Apple TV+ from September 17. Brad Pitt, on the other hand, is still reaping the benefits from his previous film, F1, that ended up becoming the actor’s highest grossing movie of all time. He is currently shooting for The Adventures of Cliff Booth, directed by David Fincher.
