Rohit Shetty directorial Singham Again boasts of a talented ensemble cast. But what makes the film all the more interesting is the Ramayana references in it. Also, the movie releases on Diwali, which has left many fans wondering if the Ramayana references were added by the team to make the most of the festive fervour. Now, in an interview, one of the film’s writers Milap Zaveri revealed that adding Ramayana references in Singham Again was always on the cards.
Milap said that even when the film was supposed to be released around Independence Day (August 15), the plan was to draw parallels between its characters and Ramayana’s. Milap said, “The story is by Kshitij Patwardhan. When Kshitij met Rohit, he already had this thought – what if we married Ramayana with the Singham cop universe and created this story? I think Rohit loved it.”

He added, “This film was originally going to release on August 15, which has nothing to do with Diwali. The film was delayed at the shooting stage, so it just so happened that we are now releasing on Diwali with a film that has Ramayana in it. This is a coincidence. We haven’t added Ramayana to encash Diwali. Ramayan was in the script right from the start, even when we were not coming to theatres on Diwali.”
In the interview, Milap Zaveri also shared that the Ramayana infusion has given Singham Again an edge as this installment is better than all others in the cop universe. “On the script level, 1000 percent. I have yet to watch the final film, but on the script level, it is 100 percent better than the other Singhams. The emotion of Ramayana that Rohit has brought into the script is beautiful. It is going to create a place in every Indian’s heart.”
Singham Again stars Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, Jackie Shroff, Ravi Kisan, and Akshay Kumar in important roles. Salman Khan will also make a special appearance in the film. Singham Again is slated to release on November 1.
