Vicky Kaushal says film discussions are inevitable when he, Katrina Kaif and whole family sit together: ‘My mom gets so irritated’

Sharing humorous anecdotes from the Kaushal household, Vicky Kaushal revealed that his mother, Veena Kaushal, often finds herself irritated by the constant filmy discussions at the dinner table.

Vicky Kaushal grew up surrounded by discussions of films, thanks to his father Sham Kaushal, one of the most renowned stunt directors in the film industry. Following his passion for films, Vicky chose to become an actor. He tied the knot with one of the country’s leading actors, Katrina Kaif, and his younger brother Sunny Kaushal also followed his footsteps. With most family members involved in the film industry, film discussions are inevitable at the Kaushal household. However, Vicky’s mother, Veena Kaushal, often finds herself irritated by these conversations.

In a behind-the-scenes video from The Great Indian Kapil Show, Vicky shared insights into how they attempt to steer clear of film discussions at the dinner table, which often end in failure. He said, “We have a lot of filmy discussions in our house and the person who gets most irritated from these discussions is my mother. We all don’t have a structured routine like a 9 to 5 job where we all meet regularly. We all are mostly scattered all the times, somebody is on set and somebody is shooting. So, when we all do come together rarely, my mom is like please don’t discuss films now, let’s talk about something else.”

He added, “Then we decide that we won’t discuss films but after two lines the conversation automatically switches to films. Now, even my mom talks like a filmy person. She will say, ‘Mein yoga gae thi cut to mujh sabji vala dekh gaeya (I went to yoga cut to I saw a vegetable vendor).”

Sharing another hilarious incident from the Kaushal household, Vicky recounted how his father never scolded him and his brother Sunny Kaushal for their fights but instead encouraged them to argue in Punjabi. “As kids we were not used to speaking in Punjabi. We used to talk in Hindi or English. So sometimes when we would fight, we would fight in Hindi. When Papa used to enter our room, we used to think he will scold us but he would enter and say, ‘Punjabi mein lad lo maza bhi aaega (Fight in Punjabi altleast you will enjoy). He still does that.”

On the work front, Vicky’s recent appearance was in Meghna Gulzar’s Sam Bahadur, a biopic of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. The film faced tough competition at the box office, releasing alongside Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal. Vicky also had a special appearance in Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki. His upcoming project includes Anand Tiwari’s Bad Newz.
