Renowned choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant, who has worked with the biggest actors of the Hindi film industry, shared her insights into working with Salman Khan during a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble. Known for choreographing hit hook steps that often go viral, Vaibhavi revealed her approach to creating dance sequences for Salman.

According to Vaibhavi, she avoids designing meticulous steps for Salman and instead lets the rhythm of the music guide her in creating the right moves. “See, I’ll tell you what, with Salman, what is the good part of it is, when you do less, he will want you to do more. When you do more, he will say, ‘Kam karo’. So what you do is you follow the path of the middle. Main kya karti hoon, I keep it a little open-ended also at times and I also go instinctive with him. You cannot think, he’s not somebody who you meticulously design steps for. You kind of have to feel it, you know. Woh andar se aana hai because he is all about owning that step.”

She added, “Till he can’t own the step, till he doesn’t own the step, till he’s not thinking about the step. When you’re dancing, you should not be thinking about the dance. It should flow, it should be a mellifluous journey like discovering yourself through that music, through that dance, right? You’re using your body to kind of interpret the music. So with him, it’s very important for him to feel very comfortable. Then to make it his own, then to project it like unhone hi ijaad kiya yeh step. Main toh thi he nahi set pe.”

Vaibhavi Merchant has previously worked with Salman Khan on songs like “Mashallah” in Ek Tha Tiger and “Swag Se Swagat” in Tiger Zinda Hai. Their successful collaboration continued with the hit song “Leke Prabhu Ka Naam” in Tiger 3.
