The box office collection of superstar Salman Khan’s latest actioner Tiger 3, as predicated by the trade, took a big blow on Sunday when India faced Australia at the World Cup final. According to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, Tiger 3 netted Rs 10.25 cr all India on its eighth day.
With its Sunday collections just about touching the double digits, the total domestic box office collection of Tiger 3 now stands at Rs 229.65 cr, including all languages. The film had an overall occupancy of just 14.75 percent all throughout yesterday— a low figure.
A statement by the makers on Monday said, “Tiger 3 had to face weeks filled with multiple festivals, fractured holidays, and World Cup tournaments but still went on to prove its mettle at the box office. As the World Cup final match has ended, the film is witnessing a jump in its box office collections and has now reached 376 crore gross worldwide.”
With World Cup 2023 now over and Diwali holidays behind it, the real test for Tiger 3 will begin from Monday as that’ll decide its fate at the box office and if it still has a shot to end its lifetime run with a respectable figure.
The latest movie in Yash Raj Films spy universe opened big but is yet to pick the momentum expected from a spy universe film since its release on November 12— Diwali day. While it has broken records for its lead stars, Salman, Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi, it couldn’t independently set new benchmarks.
Tiger 3 neither recorded highest weekend, highest day one figure nor highest week one figure, benchmarks that trade was optimistic it would scale before the film hit the big screens. The Maneesh Sharma directorial opened to mixed word of mouth.
Tiger 3 also features special appearances by Hrithik Roshan, which sets up the world for War 2, and Shah Rukh Khan, who is seen as Pathaan. While Tiger 3 may have still managed to put up respectable total, the top two films this year record wise are Jawan and Pathaan.
