Saif Ali Khan walking out of the hospital after being brutally stabbed by an intruder at his home and undergoing two major surgeries surprised many. While many wished the actor well, others questioned the intensity of the attack. In a recent interaction, Saif addressed these speculations, calling it not an ‘exaggerated injury’ but ‘a miraculous survival.’ He also explained why he expected people to ‘ridicule’ the incident while also acknowledging the ‘kindness’ he has received. Additionally, he shared how his children reacted to the attack and how Kareena Kapoor is now more concerned about security.
Saif admitted that he wanted to walk out of the hospital just as he had walked in—covered in blood but on his own feet. “I’d like to walk out on my own, and it wasn’t to show off or anything. It was just not to be alarmist,” he told The Times Of India. The actor also stated that he doesn’t look at situations from a PR angle because his ‘life is pretty interesting for actually what it is, it doesn’t need a twist.’
Speaking about how his children reacted to the attack, Saif shared that his youngest son, Jeh, gave him a plastic sword to keep by his bed so that he could fight off the ‘chor’ (thief). He also revealed that both Kareena and Taimur are deeply concerned about security now. He mentioned that Kareena is ‘shaken’ after the incident but is ‘being very strong.’ Meanwhile, his children from his previous marriage to Amrita Singh, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan, were very emotional and have been spending a lot of time with him.
Talking about his security, Saif admitted that he never had much security because he finds it a ‘nightmare’ to walk around with three or four bodyguards. He also shared his perspective on the intruder, believing that the attacker had no idea whose house he was breaking into. “I don’t think he knew whose house it was,” Saif said.
He also revealed that Taimur told him the attacker should be forgiven. Saif admitted that, initially, he felt bad for the man, but his feelings changed when he realized that the intruder had gone into a frenzy and stabbed him multiple times, nearly causing severe spinal damage. “That’s where I stopped feeling bad for him. I understand why he did it. But he crossed the line when he went mad on me,” he shared. Saif shared. He also said he doesn’t blame the police or society for the incident but holds himself responsible for not properly locking that part of the house. The actor also said he doesn’t believe in having guns in the house. “My father slept with a shotgun by his side,” he revealed, adding that he thinks that it could lead to accidents or children getting hold of it.
Despite all the chatter, Saif maintains that he still finds Mumbai a safe place to live and that this attack will not change his life. “It’s not going to change my life, and it shouldn’t, because that would be wrong.”
