Actor Sunny Deol has shut down rumours around him wandering the streets of Mumbai in a seemingly drunken state, revealing that he was shooting for his upcoming film Safar. Sunny shared a behind-the-scenes video of himself on location, surrounded by the crew members. He wrote in his post, “Afwaahon ka ‘Safar’ bas yahin tak.” The original video showed the star wandering alone at nighttime, with an unsteady gait. As he crossed a busy street, an auto rickshaw pulled up next to him. The driver guided him by the hand to take a seat in the rickshaw.
In the 18-second video, the actor exchanges a few words with the rickshaw driver before taking a seat. Some people on Twitter claimed that the clip was from the sets of a film he’s currently supposed to be filming.
“Sunny Deol kaha ghoom raha raat ko?” one person wrote on X, sharing the video. “What’s going on here? I thought Sunny Deol doesn’t drink?” another person wrote. “Haters are spreading fake news regarding this video that Sunny paji spotted drunk at Juhu,” a third person wrote.

Others brought up Sunny’s recent statements about being a teetotaler. He’d said on Mashable India that he has tried alcohol in the past, but doesn’t like the taste of it. “Ye nahi ki maine try nahi kiya… Jab main England gaya tha to maine try kia tha to be part of the society but daaru ka mujhe samajh hi nahi aaya ki itni kadvi, upar se smell itni gandi hai, upar se sar dukhta hai, toh kyun peete hain? Ye koi matab nahi hai, isiliye I never did that (It’s not that I didn’t try. When I went to England, I tried to be part of the society but I never understood it. It’s so bitter, such bad smell, and gives you a headache, so why drink it)’?” he said.
In a 2013 interview with The Times of India, Sunny had said that being around drunk people would rub off on him. “I have seen my dad and lots of other people around me getting drunk, and you feel the intoxication even if you don’t drink. Aur phir unki baatein sun ke mere ko bhi chadh jaati thi.” Sunny recently rebounded in a big way with Gadar 2, which grossed over Rs 600 crore worldwide, and emerged as the actor’s biggest-ever hit.
