Actor Sunny Deol got nostalgic as his first film Betaab completed 41 years since its release. Sunny took a trip down memory lane and shared a short throwback video from his debut film to mark the 41st anniversary. Sharing the clip, he wrote, “41 Years of #Betaab. My first film.”
Directed by Rahul Rawail, the film featured Sunny and fellow debutante Amrita Singh as two youngsters who fall in love despite the class difference between their families. Sunny received a Filmfare Best Actor Award nomination for his performance.
Sunny, son of veteran actor Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur, made his Bollywood debut in Betaab opposite Amrita Singh in 1983. The film was a box-office success and its songs “Jab Hum Jawan Honge”, “Tumne Dee Awaaz” and “Badal Yun Gajrata Hai” were chartbusters.
He later proved his mettle in hit films like Arjun, Ghayal, Damini, Ghatak, Border, Ziddi and his most iconic Gadar. In August 2023, he once again showed the power of his stardom with Gadar 2, which shattered several box office records in the history of Indian cinema.
Meanwhile, Sunny is teaming up with director Gopichand Malineni for his next film. The news was unveiled by Sunny Deol himself recently on social media, where he shared a concept poster of the film and declared, “Make way for the biggest action film of the country – #SDGM. Starring Action Superstar @iamsunnydeol. Directed by @megopichand. Produced by @MythriOfficial & @peoplemediafcy. Mass feast loading. Shoot begins soon.”
The movie, yet to be titled, is set to be produced under the banners of Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory by Naveen Yerneni, Y Ravi Shankar, and TG Vishwa Prasad. Rishi Punjabi will handle the cinematography, while the music will be composed by Thaman S, adding to the grandeur of the action-packed narrative.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Saiyami Kher and Regina Cassandra will play pivotal roles in the film. Apart from this, Sunny Deol has a lineup of exciting projects in the pipeline. He is slated to appear in Rajkumar Santoshi’s historical drama Lahore 1947, marking his first collaboration with Aamir Khan under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions.
Additionally, Sunny is set to reprise his iconic role from Border in the sequel helmed by Anurag Singh.
