Singer Arijit Singh is among the most sought after singers in Bollywood today. His latest song ‘Tum Kya Mile’ from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has been topping the music charts of late. Among the many admirers of his singing is Sonu Nigam. He believes Arijit is a better singer than himself, AR Rahman, and Mika Singh, among several others.
Sonu, in an old interview, was asked to rate the singers on a scale of 1 to 10. While doing so, the singer rated Arijit 7 on 10 and gave everyone a lower rating. He rated Mika Singh 1, AR Rahman 2, Atif Aslam 4, Armaan Malik 5, Benny Dayal 4. “The basis on which I have rated, I will rate myself 5 on 10,” he told Bollywood Hungama. He also said, “Arijit deserves to be where he is.”
During the segment where he was asked to dedicate a song to actors, Sonu dedicated “Acha Sila Diya Tune” to Salman Khan for taking away the Kick (2014) song “Hangover” from him.
As the interviewer asked Sonu to dedicate a song to Salman, he first sang, “Tune Dil Mera Todaa Mujhe Kahin Ka Na Chodda” and added, “Because he sang my Hangover song, that’s why.” Then he also sang his hit 1990s song “Acha Sila Diya Tune Mere Pyaar Ka” for Salman.
Back in 2014, it was reported that Sajid Nadiadwala recorded Kick’s song ‘Hangover’ with Sonu and Shreya Ghoshal and loved it. But, without notifying him, his portion in the song later sung by Salman Khan. At the time, Sonu told Mumbai Mirror, “Yes, I had recorded this song last year. I wasn’t told that it has been dropped. I read it in the papers that Salman had sung it. I wasn’t even paid for it”.
