Actor Sharman Joshi recently shared his experience of working on the 2006 blockbuster, Rang De Basanti. He revealed that he impressed everyone during the audition and was cast immediately for the role of Sukhi/Rajguru. The actor also spoke about working with Aamir Khan, describing him as a lovely person.
Rang De Basanti, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, represented the spirit of modern India. It also starred Siddharth, R. Madhavan, Atul Kulkarni, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kapoor, Waheeda Rehman, and British actress Alice Patten.
On the podcast Timeout With Ankit, Sharman opened up about his character Sukhi and said, “The character was like he wore his heart on his sleeve, and a little quirky. The script was exceptional and I was getting the chance to work with Aamir Khan.”
When asked about his experience of working with Aamir, who is often addressed as ‘Mr perfectionist’, Sharman said that he did not see the ‘serious’ side of Aamir, even after working with him in two films. They also shared the screen in Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots. The film also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan, Madhavan and Boman Irani in lead roles.
Sharman said, “Aamir is pretty instinctive himself. He goes with the flow. Maybe in the earlier days, he was still working on his craft and trying to figure out things, so perhaps, at that time, he was a little more particular about it. He’s a lovely guy. I really admire him for the work that he has done over the years, and also as a person, he’s a wonderful person and a team player, completely. He’s a very secure actor.”
Sharman has been away from the silver screen for some time now but has been doing some great work on the OTT platforms. He was recently seen in the SonyLIV show Kafas, along with actor Mona Singh.
