Shahid Kapoor, who has transitioned from being a backstage dancer to a celebrated star in Hindi cinema, shared his perspective on the comparisons often drawn between him and Shah Rukh Khan during the early stages of his career. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Shahid expressed his dissatisfaction with such comparisons and used an analogy involving ice cream flavours to explain his viewpoint.

Sharing his disappointment on being compared to SRK, Shahid said, “It’s the worst thing that can happen. Why should you be the next anything? You are you and they are they. And that is the worst part of the job that you are doing, that you must be like somebody who is already successful. If you are like them, by virtue of that, you will be successful in the future. This is the dumbest logic that I have ever heard in my life.”

Explaining his mindset further, he said, “It’s like somebody who makes ice creams. If they give somebody vanilla ice cream since they like vanilla, they only keep giving them vanilla ice cream. No. You have to be another flavour of ice cream. You have to make people like you, despite the fact that they like something else. And one day, you should be so good that people forget everything else and just want to consume only you. Why do you want somebody’s light? Every individual can be their own sun.”

Shahid is currently all over the Internet with his viral dance performance at an event in Doha. The actor danced to Mauja Hi Mauja, the iconic track from his hit film Jab We Met at the event.

On the professional front, Shahid Kapoor was last seen in Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bloody Daddy, and his upcoming projects include an untitled romantic comedy alongside actress Kriti Sanon, currently in the post-production stage.
