In 2023, the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan emerged as the most successful film, crossing the milestone of Rs 1000 crore and claiming the title of the highest-earning film of the year. Beyond its box office triumph, Jawan became a part of pop culture, with its dialogues permeating the social media space. Sumit Arora, who penned the dialogues of the film, recently showcased pride in his own work by sharing a poster of Shah Rukh with his viral dialogue, “Baap se baat kar,” written on it. This poster has now become a part of Sumit’s home decor.

Sharing the poster, Sumit wrote, “When your dialogue becomes part of your home decor.. #Jawan.” SRK quickly took note of Sumit’s post and and responded with a complaint about the length of his dialogues. He wrote, “Maine bhi socha tha teri lines ek deewar par lagaunga. Itne lambe lambe lambe dialogues hain tere….itni lambi deewar hi nahi hai ghar mein!!! (I am also thinking of showcasing your dialogues on my wall but you write such long dialogues that I don’t have that big a wall in my house).”

Jawan’s dialogue that caught everyone’s attention, “Bete ko hath lagane se pehle, baap se baat kar (Before touching the son, deal with the father),” became a significant talking point on social media. Many fans connected it to Shah Rukh Khan’s real-life situation, referencing the arrest of his son Aryan Khan in the drugs-on-cruise case in October 2021. Aryan was granted bail after spending 25 days in jail and later received a clean chit.

Sumit Arora, in a previous interview with PTI, revealed that the famous dialogue was not initially a part of the film’s script. “It’s a story that will make you believe in the magic of movie making. That line was never there in our draft originally. The ‘moment’ where SRK sir’s character says the line was always there and we all knew that it is a powerful moment even without a dialogue. But while shooting, it was felt that there should be a line, that this guy should say something,” the writer said.

“I was there on the set, so I was called in, and the first words that came out of my mouth given the situation were: ‘bete ko hath lagane se pehle, baap se baat kar’. It felt like the most obvious and most apt thing he should say at that moment. It just fits (in). Director Atlee and SRK sir both felt it’s correct and the shot was taken,” he added.
