Sangeeta Bijlani confirms she almost married Salman Khan, says ex didn’t let her wear short dress: ‘I changed that part of my life’

Sangeeta Bijlani and Salman Khan dated for almost a decade after meeting on the sets of a TV advertisement during their initial years in Bollywood. After a long relationship, the couple even decided to tie the knot. The date was finalised and the invites were ready, until Salman Khan decided to not take the plunge and called it off at the end moment. After all these years, Sangeeta Bijlani rarely spoke about her relationship with Salman Khan.

She recently appeared as a special guest in one of the recent episodes of Indian Idol. During the show, the actress was asked about the one thing she would like to change in her life. For this, the actress imitated Salman Khan, and said, “Jo the na, mere ex. I won’t take the name. I was very constricted that ‘you can’t wear short dresses, the neck can’t look so deep, the dress can’t be shorter than this particular length.’ I was not allowed to wear stuff like I am wearing right now (a blue knee length dress). Initially I did, but eventually I was not allowed to. So I was a little shy then. Now, I am nothing like it. I am a total gundi. I am not afraid anymore. I was very reserved then. I would like to change that part of my life. But, anyway, I changed that. I am who I am now.”

As soon as Sangeeta said this, one of the contestants, Manasi Ghosh, asked her another question. She asked, “We heard that Salman and you had your wedding cards printed. Is that true?” A shocked Sangeeta replied, “Yes, it is true. Don’t ask me more.” She then took a pause and quipped, “Bijli mujh par mat girao. Naam Bijli mera hai. I am done with the confession.”

A curious Vishal Dadlani then turned towards Sangeeta and asked, “What’s the story?”. Aditya quickly changed the topic and said, ‘Vishu sir let’s talk this at Bhavana’.” Sangeeta added, “Yes, let me share the story at Bhavana with you.” Bhavana is an apartment complex in Mumbai’s Parel where Sangeeta and Vishal Dadlani have their residences.

Previously, in an appearance with Koffee With Karan, Salman Khan spoke about almost tying the knot with Sangeeta Bijlani. However, he cancelled the wedding after getting cold feet. In the same conversation, Karan jokingly asked if Sangeeta caught him doing something. Salman Khan laughed and denied any such incident.
