Sameera Reddy had a successful but short-lived career as a Hindi film actor in the 2000s but today, she is widely known for her social media antics with her mother-in-law Manjri Varde, whom she has lovingly named Sassy Sasu. In a recent interview, Sameera spoke about how her mother-in-law would accompany her and her husband (then boyfriend) on their movie dates, and was completely okay if Sameera decided to spend the night at their house.
Talking on the YouTube channel of Lxme, Sameera shared, “Akshai would get her on our dates, and this is something I could not.. he would be like ‘you know, my mother is single, she is a divorcee’ so over the weekends… first six months of my life, I had the mother come for the movies. He’s like ‘no, I have to take my mother for the movie. I was like ‘what are we doing?”
Sameera also recalled her mother-in-law telling her stories about Akshai’s exes but made sure that she underlined that she would always support Sameera. “So the funny part is that from the beginning, it was very quirky, it was very easy,” she recalled with a laugh.
Sameera then shared that her mother-in-law was always a combination of someone who was very modern in her outlook, but also very traditional. “She was okay if I spent the night there. I was 32, Akshai was 30 and she was like, ‘you guys are in your 30s, I am not dumb’. And what was interesting was she was very traditional and then she was very open minded, and this combination was a bit confusing for me also. There was no dikhava there,” she said.
Sameera married entrepreneur Akshai in 2014. They are parents to a son and a daughter.
