Ronit Roy had a strong debut in the movies in 1992 with the Hindi film Jaan but despite a successful first film, his career went through a massive lull in the 1990s until he stepped into the spotlight again in 2002 with Kasautii Zindagi Kay. During the ten years between his two hits, Ronit went through a difficult period and through that phase, his younger brother Rohit Bose Roy stood by him like a rock. In a recent interview, Rohit spoke about that period and said that he always wonders how his brother “survived those 7-8 years.”
In a chat with Siddharth Kannan, Rohit said, “The phase that he was going through, it was just me with him, there was no one else. It was a very volatile phase for him. It was volatile because there was no work. Industry had rejected him. His friends would tell me ‘Rohit, you are a star on TV, but your brother won’t make it’.”
The Kaabil actor said that for those 7-8 years, “I was his older brother.” “People who see him now don’t remember that phase. Because his film audience… they went away with the film. The viewers he gained after Kasautii, they don’t know about his struggle. For them, Ronit Roy is Rishabh Bajaj,” he said. Rohit said that he was fortunate enough that he could stand by his brother.
When asked if he helped his brother financially, Rohit said, “There is no point of talking about all of that. I will just say that we are brothers. There are no differences between us.” He also added that they have never fought on financial matters.
After Kasautii Zindagi Kay and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Rishabh Bajaj became one of the most sought after names in the television industry. His work in films like Udaan, Student of the Year, 2 States among many others. Recently, he was seen in Shahid Kapoor starrer Bloody Daddy.
