Everyone is a Swiftie, including Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. The entrepreneur has revealed attending the London concert of American popstar Taylor Swift, with her daughter Samara and actor mother Neetu Kapoor, who acquainted herself with the music before the live performance.
“We went to the Swift concert and it was a blast,” Riddhima Kapoor said in an interview with UK-based radio jockey Anushka Arora. Calling herself a “certified Swiftie,” Riddhima said she had to prepare her mother days in advance before the big gig, as she was not familiar with Taylor Swift’s music.
“My daughter and I love Taylor Swift, we had a blast. But my mother said, ‘Hmm yeah…she is good.’ Poor thing doesn’t know much about her. Just before the concert, I told her, Mom, these are the songs, please listen to them, get yourself educated! She enjoyed it.”
Riddhima, the elder sister of actor Ranbir Kapoor, recalled that the “vibe” of the concert completely overwhelmed her, as the pop star played all her favourite songs, which even her mother ended up enjoying.
“I was on a video call with all my friends in Delhi and telling them, ‘Look she is playing our song!’ Samara was enjoying, screaming, singing! I had to calm her down, that take it easy! It was Swift, so zindagi safal hogayi, aur kya chahiye. We booked our tickets six months in advance and wanted Mom to experience the Swift mania!”
In the interview, Riddhima also spoke about how the Kapoor family dealt with the deaths of Rishi Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor within a year of each other. Rishi Kapoor passed away in 2020 after a battle with cancer while Rajiv Kapoor suffered a heart attack in 2021, aged 58.
The designer said the family has gotten “closer” since then and looks out for each other a “little bit more.” She added, “Many family members have passed on in the family. I am not talking about my immediate family, I am talking about even the extended family.
“All of us have become closer and more united. We call each other up every other day, we are on FaceTime, we don’t have to meet every other day, or every single day, but at least we know what is happening with each other, so definitely it has brought us very close,” she added.
