After the premiere of The Great Indian Kapil Show on Saturday, comedian Kapil Sharma recently shared a behind-the-scenes clip from the first episode. The episode featured guests Neetu Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, and Riddhima Kapoor sharing various anecdotes from their personal lives. During the interaction, Ranbir reminisced about how his friends were scared of his father, the late actor Rishi Kapoor, and always avoided speaking to him. Neetu also shared instances of Ranbir’s mischief during his school days.
Ranbir revealed that his school friends were so intimidated by Rishi Kapoor that they wouldn’t even dare to speak to him on the phone. He said, “Tab mobile nahi tha, koe bhi dost phone karta tha aur agar Papa ne phone uthaya hai toh koe kuch bolta nahi tha (That time mobile phones didn’t exist, so whenever my friends would call and if my father picked up the phone, they wouldn’t speak). Everybody used to keep the phone down. Nobody used to speak.” Neetu added, “His ‘hello’ was also so loud and heavy.”
Riddhima explained the reason behind their shyness and said, “Woh kuch bolte nahi thay par sab unke awaaz se darte thay (My dad never said anything to them, it’s such that his voice was like that).”
Recalling Ranbir’s school days, Neetu said, “Ranbir was very naughty. We used to get complaints everyday. They used to tell us please come, he is not studying, he is playing with cats and dogs. If you get a toy at home, he won’t play with it, he would break it and see how it functions.”
The Great Indian Kapil Show also saw Neetu and Ranbir sharing other anecdotes about Rishi Kapoor. Ranbir even disclosed that the only time his father hit him as a child was when he wore slippers inside the temple at RK Studios. Neetu, on the other hand, praised Rishi Kapoor for imparting valuable life lessons and morals to their children.
