Ranbir Kapoor‘s Ramayana is one of the most-anticipated Indian films of the next few years. A few months back, actor Sunny Deol exclusively confirmed to SCREEN that he was also a part of this film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role. Now, in a conversation with Pinkvilla, Ranbir’s Ramayana co-star actor Ravi Dubey spoke about his equation with the Animal star. Ravi called Ranbir his ‘elder brother’, and praised the actor’s humility.
He said, “Ranbir is incredibly kind, one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. He is very warm and welcoming. We were just discussing humility earlier. When someone attains massive success, especially sudden success, they become widely admired and loved. With that comes immense credibility for their performances, along with the freedom to carry themselves in a certain way—something many actors embrace. But Ranbir bhai is different. His humility, kindness towards everyone, quiet nature, dedication to his craft, and meticulous preparation behind the scenes are truly incredible. For me, he is like an elder brother, and I deeply respect and admire him as one.”
Ravi, who has been a celebrated actor on TV, will be seen playing Lakshman in the film. He spoke on the podcast about how he felt honored to work with Nitesh Tiwari on this film. While he spoke about being grateful, he added, “It is a great privilege if you get to be a part of the Ram Katha, I couldn’t be more grateful.”
Earlier, the film’s casting director Mukesh Chhabra had revealed that casting for Lakshman’s role was difficult as many established names were not willing to play second fiddle to Ranbir. He had said in an appearance on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, “It was the last role we cast. We’ve chosen a young actor who has worked a lot in television; he’s a lovely guy. We couldn’t have found a better Lakshman. I’m very happy that the people we’d initially approached all said no. Two or three people said no because they thought that Ram and Lakshman would always have to be together.”
