Parineeti Chopra opens up about love story with Raghav Chadha: ‘Decided to get married first, learn about each other later’

Parineeti Chopra said that within five minutes of meeting Raghav Chadha, she knew that they would get married.

Actor Parineeti Chopra spoke about her love story with politician Raghav Chadha, whom she first met at a conference in London but didn’t recognise. In an interview, Parineeti said that she googled him after they had breakfast together the next day. Parineeti said that they didn’t formally have a conversation about getting married, but it was clear to her that they would get married five minutes into their first ‘date’. The Amar Singh Chamkila actor tied the knot with the AAP politician in 2023.

Appearing on Raj Shamani’s podcast, Parineeti said, “We met at an event in London, and usually, I’d just say hi and move on, but this time, I said, ‘Let’s meet for breakfast’. Including our teams, it was around 8-10 of us, and we met at breakfast the next day. I had no idea who he was an what he did. I literally looked him up after the breakfast. I learned about all the work he’s done, and we realised, not even in weeks, in days, that we would get married.”

Parineeti said that she and Raghav didn’t initiate a conversation about tying the knot, but it was almost a given from the earliest stages of their relationship. “I swear, I met Raghav, and within five minutes, I knew I was going to marry this man. I didn’t even know if he was married, had children, how old he was… He just sat at breakfast in front of me, and I’m looking at this man and saying, ‘I think I’m going to marry this man’. It was some God’s voice inside me.”

Parineeti said that they started talking over the next few days, and actually got to know each other. “Of course, feelings developed and all of that happened, and we used to say, ‘What about children, what about family, what are your values?’ Even in that interview phase, it was a given that we would marry each other, we learned about each other later.”

Parineeti and Raghav tied the knot in the presence of top politicians, select members of the film industry, and of course, their families. Parineeti was last seen in Imtiaz Ali’s Amar Singh Chamkila, starring Diljit Dosanjh in the titular role.
