National Award jury member Prakruti Mishra jokes she ‘hasn’t washed her hand’ since meeting Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan won his first-ever National Award yesterday in Delhi for the film Jawan which was released in 2023.

Shah Rukh Khan clinched his first-ever National Film Award for his performance in Jawan, marking a major milestone in his decades-long career.Following his National Award win, Shah Rukh Khan took a moment to pose with members of the jury panel who selected him for the honour.

Shah Rukh Khan made headlines yesterday after receiving his first-ever National Film Award for his performance in Jawan. The prestigious ceremony, held in New Delhi, has since sparked a wave of admiration across social media, with countless images and videos of the actor from the event going viral.

Among those in attendance was actor Prakruti Mishra, who served as a member of the 71st National Film Awards central jury. Prakruti took to Instagram to share a heartfelt post about the momentous occasion, alongside a carousel of photos from the event,  including a snapshot featuring herself, Shah Rukh Khan, and filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, who chaired the jury panel. In a candid caption, she reflected on her journey as part of the selection committee:

“When I was selected to be a part of the central jury panel for National Film Awards, I didn’t know that I would be a part of the team of 11 who would be responsible for @iamsrk Sir to get his much-deserved and long-awaited first-ever national award. Being a part of this iconic moment makes me realise that ‘Agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaho toh puri kainaat usse tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai’. This victory feels personal because it gives every Indian artist the dream to hope, to strive and to win! Thank you @iamsrk saab for inspiring us with your humility, hard work and grace.” Adding a humorous touch to her tribute, she joked: PS: I haven’t washed my hands since the most special ‘handshake’ of my life.”

Prakruti Mishra, who previously won a National Award herself for her performance in the 2018 Odia film Hello Arsi, ended her note with a message of admiration and congratulations: “Congratulations @iamsrk Sir on your first and most awaited National award. It was an honour to have been in the panel and fight for what you deserved many years ago.”

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan is expected to return to Poland, where he is currently filming Siddharth Anand’s upcoming action epic King. The high-profile project also features his daughter Suhana Khan, along with Deepika Padukone, Arshad Warsi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhay Verma, Jackie Shroff, Rani Mukerji, and Anil Kapoor in pivotal roles. The film is slated for a 2027 theatrical release.
