Actor Mithun Chakraborty has starred in several Hindi and Bengali films in a career spanning over 45 years. He won a National Award for his performance in his debut Bollywood movie, Mrigayaa, and got the moniker of Disco Dancer after his 1982 film Disco Dancer became a rage. However, there is one film that his son Namashi wishes that his father had not starred in: the 1998 movie Gunda.
The action-drama Gunda was written by Bashir Babbar and directed by Kanti Shah. It also starred Mukesh Rishi and Shakti Kapoor in supporting roles. It became controversial upon release for its questionable content, but has since become a cult hit for its cringe dialogues and so-bad-it’s-good nature.
Actor Mukesh Rishi, who essayed the role of Bulla in Gunda, had once shared how he was ashamed of his lines in the film. He had told Hindustan Times, “I felt ashamed while saying Bulla’s dialogues! There was a mixed feeling of shame and guilt, and I constantly questioned why I was doing this in the first place.”
Meanwhile, Namashi Chakraborty will be making his acting debut with the movie Bad Boy. Mithun will make a special appearance in one of the film’s songs. Bad Boy has been bankrolled by Anjum Qureshi and Sajid Qureshi under the banner Inbox Pictures.
It has been directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The movie also stars Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Darshan Jariwala and Saswata Chatterjee in significant roles.
