Lyricist Sameer Anjaan, who has given several hit Bollywood songs through the 80s, 90s and 2000s, is upset with the makers of Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film Animal. The first pre-teaser of the movie was released a few days back, and it featured the song “Dang Khadke” in the background. But, throughout the pre-teaser and on the poster of the film, the makers didn’t mention the name of the lyricist and the composer of the song. This has left Sameer angry.
“Dang Khadke” is composed by Manan Bhardwaj, and the lyrics are by Bhupinder Babbal. Sameer said he doesn’t know who composed the song or wrote it, but he wants them to fight against this ‘injustice’.
Sameer believes the director and producer are deliberately doing this to “ruin the music fraternity’s importance”.
The lyricist also cited the lack of proper credit to music composers and lyricists as the reason for the drop in the quality of Hindi music. He shared that he and the music composer duo Nadeem-Sharavan used to put it into their contract that their name will appear on the film’s poster.
To make sure that action is taken against those who fail to give due credit to writers and composers, Sameer plans to call a meeting. He wants to encourage writers and music composers to raise their voices.
Animal, helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, also stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Triptii Dimri, and Rashmika Mandanna. The film will release on August 11.
