Actor Kangana Ranaut posted a video with late filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar, who passed away on Friday morning. Kangana said that the video was made when she had met the filmmaker during the prep of their film Noti Binodini, a project that was announced in 2022.

While the video doesn’t show any faces, it shows multiple dishes on the table. Kangana wrote in the caption, “Last meal I had with Pradeep dada, he knew I love Bengali food, this was during Noti Binodini prep meet, that’s his hand in the first frame…Such a terrible news, we were to meet as soon I got to Mumbai… My heart is sinking and I won’t be able to cope with this shocking news.”

Pradeep’s last directorial was web series Duranga starring Drashti Dhami and Gulshan Deviah. During an interview with indianexpress.com, the actors had earlier shared their experience of working with the director.

Gulshan had shared that Pradeep had recorded the audio of first two episodes of Duranga, something he had never seen earlier. He said, “Most of the time he has his mask on and he mumbles. So it took me 2-3 days to figure out what he is saying. He would have his own takes and he did something that I had never done. He voice recorded our first two episodes with us and other actors. Its like you are doing a radio play. It was something new. I have done a lot of workshops but this was something new for me.”

Drashti too shared how it took her some time to understand Pradeep but once she did, she became his translator on sets. The actor said, “On my first day on set, I was clueless because I had no idea what I was doing, I was so lost. It was a simple scene with one line and I took 17 takes. So, I was like ‘I don’t know what I am doing’ because five people were telling me what to do and I couldn’t understand what dada was saying. He comes on the set with a mask and he mumbles. After the third day I realised what he was saying. Then on sets there were people going ‘haan dada?’ and I would be like ‘dada ye bolne ki koshish kar rahe hai’. ”

Pradeep died on Friday after his potassium levels dropped. He was rushed to the hospital on Thursday night but could not be saved. Other celebrities such as Ajay Devgn, Hansal Mehta and Manoj Bajpayee remembered the Parineeta director.
