On Tuesday, Netflix announced a new series produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s wife Gauri Khan under the banner Red Chillies Entertainment. The untitled series will mark the debut of Shah Rukh Khan’s first-born Aryan Khan, who is the creator and director of the project. Among the several reactions the news attracted, it also got the approval of Queen star Kangana Ranaut.

Soon after the announcement, Kangana took to her Instagram Stories and wrote, “It is great that children from film families are going beyond just wanting to wear makeup, lose weight, doll up and think they are actors.”

Praising Aryan Khan’s career choice, Kangana further stated, “We should collectively uplift the standards of Indian cinema, that is the need of the hour. And those who have resources often end up taking easiest roads. We need more people behind the cameras, good that Aryan Khan is taking road less travelled. Look forward to his debut as a writer and filmmaker.”

This news attracted reactions from Gauri Khan’s best friends and Bollywood wives, Bhavana Pandey, Maheep Kapoor and Shalini Passi. Bhavana commented, “So excited.” Shalini wrote, “So proud of you Aryan.” Hrithik Roshan’s father and veteran actor-director Rakesh Roshan too expressed his happiness. He commented, “Aryan all the best & looking forward.”

Shah Rukh Khan too shared the news on his X handle and among the other things, the actor wrote, “Here’s to untamed storytelling… controlled chaos… gutsy scenes and lots.”

The series was officially announced in Los Angeles this week at an event hosted by Bela Bajaria, Chief Content Officer, Netflix. Set against the backdrop of the film industry, this multi-genre project promises an unabashed, entertaining ride through the adventures of a charming, ambitious outsider navigating the tricky world of Bollywood. The series will include cameos of actors and it will be a tongue-in-cheek take on Indian cinema, according to its makers.
