Veteran actor Kamal Sadanah has opened up about Divya Bharti’s untimely death. At the age of 19, Divya fell to her death from the balcony of her fifth floor apartment in Mumbai. Discussing the same, Kamal said that Divya’s death was an accident and also revealed he was working with her just three days before the unfortunate incident.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Kamal said, “It was very tough (Divya’s death news). It was really sad. She was one of the most talented actresses and great fun to work with.” Kamal recalled how Divya had the guts to imitate Sridevi and he used to tell her, “You can’t be doing this publicly.” He continued, “She was so much fun and it was such shocking news and I had just finished shooting with her. I said, ‘How can that be possible? It’s not a natural way to go.’”
Divya gained fame after appearing in films like Vishwatma, Shola Aur Shabnam, and Deewana. After reports of foul play and conspiracies around her death started circulating, her father issued a statement and said that it was an accident.
The late actor’s father reportedly said, “There was no question of suicide or murder. Yes, she did drink a bit but how much can you drink in half an hour? And she was not depressed. She was the kind to give you depression! It was an accident. She sat on the ledge, lost her balance and fell. Sadly, all flats had grills except hers. Cars would always be parked below but that night there was not a single one. She fell directly on the ground.”
